on a cloudy and cool Sunday afternoon

I do not feel like walking today, There I said it. I just want to go lay down on the couch turn on something TV and sleep till tomorrow morning. But not really. I came home from the campfire singalong and made a pot of coffee so hoping that will help motivate me to get moving and doing something besides what I described above.

I visited Maranatha again this morning and was greeted warmly by several people. That was nice. Then I attended the adult Sunday School class and the teacher, a retired OB Dr taught on Salvation. Oh the simplicity of the Gospel and how easy God makes it for us to repent and have our sins washed away. It was so simple yet so many do not have a clue about Jesus and His taking our punishment upon Himself. I was blessed. After Sunday school I greeted Gerry a guy who comes in to the Y and I told him that is where he knew me from. He was so glad I had said something to him because he knew he knew me but couldn't figure out from where. I love those connections especially when you see someone who is a brother or sister in Christ. I also saw Mark and Cynthia Nodland and got great hugs from both of them. I saw Emily and got a little wave from her and I saw Rose but she was just coming from Sunday School so did not talk to her, just saw her across the way.

The service was so good! The worship was great and was worship giving all glory to God and to Jesus and focusing on Him and how much He deserves from me. I was blessed and humbled and I sang loudly with the rest of the people lifting our voices in praise and worship to the One who made us and the One who died and rose again. All of the service pointed to Him!

The sermon was about Prayer, and not in the way you are thinking. The title of Pastor Aaron's sermon was First Word. He told us that First Words matter. In a conversation the one who begins a conversation or has the first word,  is the one who generally directs the conversation. Now since God created everything with His Word and as Psalm 19:1 - 3 says," The Heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day the pour forth speech, night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them." And yet they speak for all people to understand there is a God. There is a creator who holds all of this spinning mass in place. So God has 'First Word" Prayer is our response to what God has already said. So what do we say in response? Where do we begin? Pastor Aaron then took us to The 23rd Psalm and in those six verses 12 things are revealed about Who God is, start there with prayer. Praising and thanking God for exactly Who He has revealed Himself to be and work through that scripture then lastly ask Him for what you need. It was so freeing for me today! I am sure I will visit again to hear more about Prayer and His Majesty The King.

I came home and ate some lunch texted with Liz, sent a response to Nicole and then got ready and drove to the Nature Center for the Campfire singalong. It was a nice group. My folks were there but did not stay there were not dressed to be outside and it was chilly. It was fun singing along with these people, One gal with red hair I recognized from the Y, another was a former Girl Scout leader probably about the same time as I was. Jan Aiels was there she works at the Nature Center and was a former Girls Scout Service Unit leader, that is how I know her. Sheila's family, JoAnna and Hannah. It was a fun time.

I left there and stopped by the Hy Vee, how different it is from my Hy Vee! It's way too big and too hard to find stuff, at least the stuff I was looking for. I finally did find it and now I am home drinking my coffee and rambling on and on here.

Friday evening I wanted to go walk at Cedar Lake and asked Tricia if she wanted to walk with me, she said yes and met me there. We walked it twice. It was a lovely evening and a good way to get my steps in.

A Saturday to sleep in it was so great! I got up and had a nice relaxing quiet time with my prayer notebook, my Bible and my coffee. After that I needed to pick up my medicine from 32nd St Hy Vee so decided to walk there and found out it is just a tad over 1 mile. It was a lovely morning early afternoon to walk. When I walked into the store I  heard the Iowa Game was on so when I got back home I watched the rest of the game or at least until Tricia came to get me for the movie, I missed the last 2 minutes of the game and was happy to know Iowa pulled it out!

I got the mail and in it there was a card from my Hy Vee ( I love how each one of them is named) from the Store Director Aaron that said, Kathleen, you scored a perfect 100% on our stores last secret shopper report! Nice work! Thank you for providing great service to our 1st Ave Customers! Aaron. I was blown away and floored by that! Last time on the Secret Shopper report I got all negative :( it just goes to show me that when I give my shifts to God He can use me to let my light shine. I also got a card for a free meal :)

Tricia and I went to see The Man From U.N.C.L.E. we watched the show on tv from time to time when we were 12 and 10 respectively and were happy they began the movie with a clip from the old shows - how cheesy they were with the technology from that time. It was a really good movie and we both enjoyed it a lot. When she dropped me off I asked her if she felt up to a walk and we made plans to meet at Cedar Lake after she went home changed clothes and shoes. We did one lap and part of a second then we both went our separate ways.

Tomorrow night is our Emmaus Study and it's our turn to provide the "snacks". I am making a apple dump cake and will give people the option of carmel sauce, that is what I was looking for at the store.
